Mark your Calendars! The Chicago Palestine Film Festival runs from April 16th-29st at the Gene Siskel Film Center. Be sure to join us for our opening night reception on April 16th @ 7pm and the North American Premier of Michel Kheilfi’s “Zindeeq”. Director Sama Alshaibi will be at Gene Siskel Film Center on Wednesday April 21st to discuss her short film “End of September”.

Pomegranates and Myrrh

While life under occupation rages on a free spirited woman dancer, Kamar, finds herself the wife of a prisoner, Zaid. Away from everything she loves Kamar returns to the dance. There she’s confronted with Kais, a Palestinian returnee. Sparks fly between them, creating more than a passionate, emotional dance for them both. Matters become more complicated when Zaid's sentence is extended.

Voices Beyond Walls

“Youth Visions of Jerusalem” is a unique program of digital video, photography and storytelling workshops conducted by Voices Beyond Walls. The program supports Palestinian youth in expressing their cultural identity, personal narratives, and creative visions of Jerusalem, the Arab Cultural Capital in 2009.

 

City of Borders

In the heart of Jerusalem stands an unusual symbol of unity that defies generations of segregation, violence and prejudice:  a gay bar called Shushan.  CITY OF BORDERS goes inside this vibrant underground sanctuary on the East/West border of the Holy City, where people of opposing nationalities, religions and sexual orientations create a community among people typically viewed as each other's "enemy."

Bil’in My Love

BIL'IN MY LOVE tells the story of a small Palestinian village trying to save itself and to break the occupation in a non-violent resistance against the Israeli Army. Under the pretext of security, the village of Bil'in is about to lose more than half of its lands to the Israeli separation fence and to the neighbouring Israeli settlement. In an attempt to stop the bulldozers, tear gas, beatings, arrests and live ammunition, the villagers confront the army in creative weekly demonstrations.
