"My Neighbourhood" Virtual Film Screening + Interview

Writer, poet, and activist, Mohammed El-Kurd has been at the center of the current protests in Sheikh Jarrah, representing a voice of Palestinians against occupation and forced expulsion. On Thursday, May 20, with AMP Chicago and USPCN, we will be screening the film "My Neighbourhood” on YouTube, which follows Mohammed El-Kurd as a young boy, highlighting the forced displacement of families in Jerusalem's Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood. Condemned by international law, displacements across the country have been experienced by Palestinians for generations and are a root cause of Palestinian resistance to Israeli occupation.

After the film, we will host a special, live interview with Omar Baddar, a Palestinian political analyst, digital producer, and human rights advocate in Washington, DC. Omar produced and presented with Al Jazeera, appeared in many international news outlets, and served as a director of the Arab American Institute and of the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee of Massachusetts.
